What the Ministry asked of families
The statement is addressed to parents and guardians, the school community and the bodies responsible for schooling. It asks them to do two things: supply the learning materials a child needs, and get every child who has reached school age to school. It names no registration day and no grace period.
The rest of the year
The opening day is the one fixed date in the 2019 E.C. calendar so far. The Grade 6, Grade 8 and Grade 12 national exam dates have not been announced, and our school calendar marks them as not announced rather than repeating last year's. Grade 11 also gains eleven vocational subjects from this year. Universities open on their own dates, which we keep in The 2019 E.C. registration dates, university by university.
