Tutoring jobs in Addis Ababa
Teach students from KG to Grade 12 at their homes or online, at hours that suit you. You set your own rate, and Temari.et pays you for every lesson the family confirms.
What the work looks like
Families come to Temari.et when a child is struggling in a subject or getting ready for a national exam. When a family picks you, you agree the days and times together, and you teach at their home or online.
Students are in school during the day, so lessons happen after classes, in the evening or at the weekend. That makes tutoring easy to fit next to a full-time job or university classes.
You decide how much you take on: the subjects and grades you teach, the areas you are willing to travel to, and whether you teach in person, online or both. You can start with one family and add more when you have the time.

Many families ask for help with every subject in the natural or social science stream.
Requests come from across Addis Ababa, including Bole, Ayat, Yeka, Kolfe, Saris and Jemo, and from towns outside it such as Sululta, Dukem, Hawassa and Woldia.

How you are paid
You set an hourly rate when you apply. If you teach brothers and sisters together, you can add a rate for each extra child.
Families pay Temari.et for each month before it starts, and lessons open only once that month is paid. Every lesson you give has already been paid for.
After each lesson you mark it as given, and the family confirms it. If they have not answered within three days, it counts as confirmed. When the month ends, the pay for every confirmed lesson moves to your Temari.et wallet, less a 10% fee, and you can ask for it to be sent to your bank account or Telebirr.

Who can apply
Teachers, university students and graduates can all apply. You need to know your subject well and be able to explain it to a young learner. The application asks for four things:
Your Fayda ID
The number, and a clear photo or scan of the card.
Your certificates
Your degree or diploma if you have one, and letters from schools you have taught at. Teachers whose school uses Temari.et can attach files straight from their employee file.
Your subjects and grades
Pick them from the national curriculum, KG to Grade 12, and say where you teach or whether you teach online.
Your rate
What one hour with one student costs. You can change it later.
How to apply
Create your account
Tap Apply to tutor and sign up with your phone number. It takes about a minute.
Fill in your tutor profile
Add your subjects and grades, where you teach and your rate, then write a few lines about how you teach.
Add your ID and certificates
Enter your Fayda number and add clear photos or scans of your certificates. You can save the form and finish it later.
We call you
The Temari.et team looks at every application and calls you once yours has been reviewed. Approved tutors appear in the tutor directory, where families find them.
Questions tutors ask
Can I tutor part time?
Yes. You choose which families to take on and agree the lesson times with each one, so tutoring can fit around a job or your university classes.
Can university students apply?
Yes. University students, graduates and working teachers can all apply. An application is judged on how well you know your subjects and on the documents you can show.
Are there online tutoring jobs?
When you apply you choose online, in person or both. Online lessons run on a video link Temari.et creates for each lesson, so you can teach students in other cities from home.
How much can I earn?
You set your own hourly rate. The family pays that rate for each hour you teach, Temari.et keeps 10%, and the rest is yours.
When do I get paid?
Families pay each month in advance. When the month ends, the pay for your confirmed lessons moves to your Temari.et wallet, and you can have it sent to your bank account or Telebirr.
Do I have to live in Addis Ababa?
No. You say where you teach when you apply, and that can be any city. Online lessons work from anywhere with a steady internet connection.
Does it cost anything to apply?
Applying costs nothing. Temari.et's fee comes out of your pay: 10% of each month's confirmed lessons.
What happens after I apply?
The Temari.et team reviews your profile and documents and then calls you. Once you are approved, your profile appears in the tutor directory and families can send you requests.
